What is it about a white horse lying down that is so magical?  I chanced upon this one on a lucky spring afternoon.  He seems so content, surveying the half-plowed field.  Well, first he was asleep.  When he saw me, he went to get up, but I was able to back up a few steps and use language from a book called "Horse Speak" (not affiliated, just a great book) to communicate that I wasn't going to do anything.  Then he nibbled some grass and relaxed in this position for several minutes before finally getting up.  Horses are vunlerable lying down, so that was quite a sign of trust.  You can see even as he is relaxing, one ear is pointed towards me, keeping track of what I am doing.
